LiftyMe Terms of Service

LiftyMe is a cost-sharing carpool platform that connects commuters travelling the same way so they can share a private vehicle and split its running cost. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms.

1. What LiftyMe is - and isn't

LiftyMe enables cost-sharing of private journeys under the Motor Vehicles Act. Drivers are commuters offering spare seats on a trip they are already making. The amount a rider pays is a fixed share of the trip's fuel and toll cost - there is no profit margin, surge, or commercial fare. LiftyMe is not a taxi, cab-hailing, or commercial transport service, and drivers are not employees or commercial operators.

2. Eligibility

• You must be 18 or older.
• Giving lifts requires a verified closed-network ID (corporate, university, or government).
• Drivers must hold a valid licence and roadworthy, insured vehicle.

3. Cost sharing and payments

• The per-seat amount is calculated by the app from distance, the vehicle's fuel efficiency, live fuel prices, and tolls, split across the actual occupants.
• A small platform fee is added to cover operating the service.
• To keep the service non-commercial, drivers are limited in how many pooled trips they may take per week.

4. Conduct

Treat other members with respect. Do not harass, threaten, discriminate against, or endanger anyone. You may report or block any member. Serious or repeated violations can lead to suspension or removal from the platform.

5. Safety

Always confirm the driver, vehicle, and number plate before boarding. Use the in-app "Share trip" feature to let a trusted contact follow your journey. In an emergency, contact local authorities (dial 112) immediately. LiftyMe facilitates introductions but is not present in the vehicle and is not responsible for the conduct of members during a trip.

6. Cancellations

Either party may cancel a trip before or during the ride; the rider's payment is reversed on cancellation. Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may affect your standing on the platform.

7. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app, or as described at /delete-account.

8. Liability

LiftyMe is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, LiftyMe is not liable for the acts of members, the condition of any vehicle, or losses arising from a trip arranged through the platform.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
